The "Bug Search" Program
The Bug Search program is a two-phase educational workshop provided free of charge (with the exception of transportation, when necessary) to Sudbury-area schools by the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee. This program has been in operation since 2001.
Students from grades 4 to 12 learn a method used all over the world to monitor water quality by collecting and identifying benthic macroinvertebrates. About 600 students take part each year.
The program is delivered in two parts: (1) classroom presentation and (2) field trip. For more information on these components, click here.
If you would like to participate in the "Bug Search" program, please e-mail info@junctioncreek.com or call 525-8736.
The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee is able to provide the program free to schools, thanks to funding support from Environment Canada's EcoAction 2000 program.
